Taifex ( Taiwan Futures Exchange ) Changed Option Position Limits On Some Equities

Taifex changed the position limits for certain stocks earlier this week. Taifex options have position limits based on who the holder is and varies by stock. Supposedly, this helps prevent market manipulation.

For an example, Lets take a look at Uni-President

Company 統一選擇權 UNI-PRESIDENT ENTERPRISES CORP.

Individual 1,000
Corporation 3,000
Market Maker 7,500

Keep in mind that each individual stock has different position limits. For an individual option purchaser in Uni-President, the maximum open interest position is 1,000 contracts. For a corporation and the like, the limit is 3,000 contracts. And finally for market makers, the limit is 7,500 contracts at one time.
